Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

IFC Financial Inc. (O/A Insurance For Children) (“Insurance For Children”, “we” or “us”) obtains your consent for the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, unless inappropriate. If the purpose for such collection, use and disclosure is not obvious, we advise you of the purpose at or before the time of collection, use and disclosure. We only collect the personal information necessary for such purposes.

Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. This can include your name, your child’s or grandchild’s name, home address and telephone number, date of birth, health information and financial and credit information.

We typically only collect the personal information we need for the purposes of processing requests for insurance quotes, assisting you in applying for insurance products, providing insurance products and related services, preventing and deterring fraud and complying with legal and regulatory requirements. We collect most of our information directly from the individual to which it relates. We may also consult our existing files. We collect, use and disclose to the relevant insurer the personal information contained in your insurance application(s), if any. We also collect, use and disclose to a third party partner who performs administration and claims processing services on behalf of the insurer, the personal information necessary to perform those services.

You may decline or revoke your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for these insurance purposes. However, if you do so we may be unable to provide you with insurance products or services and our partner may be unable to administer or process your insurance claims.

We only collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the consent provided by the person to whom the information relates, this Privacy Policy, our contractual rights and as required by law.

Reasons we require the information

Insurance For Children use your personal information to confirm your identity, determine your eligibility for insurance, , administer and service the insurance products we provide and comply with regulatory and contractual requirements relating to the services and products provided to you.

Optional uses of personal information

We may use your personal information to provide you with information about products and services offered by us or our affiliates. If you do not wish your personal information to be used for this purpose, you may advise us in writing or by e-mail at the address set out below in the “Contacting Us” section. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing or other purposes.

We may collect your personal information from and transfer your personal information to third party service providers for the purpose of assisting us in providing insurance products and services and the servicing and administering of claims. Our service providers are required by contract to only use your personal information for the limited purpose of providing such services and to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our privacy practices. We may also disclose personal information if we are required to do so by legal or regulatory authorities or as otherwise required by law.

We have developed physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information against loss, theft, copying, unauthorized disclosure and unauthorized use or modification. We limit access to your personal information to authorized employees and agents who need your personal information to provide you with insurance products and services.
